Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is sometimes called Bonfire Night and honors the anniversary the discovery of a conspiracy coordinated by Catholic conspirators to explode the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many people start bonfires and explode fireworks.

For you to know story behind the reason we observe Bonfire Night, then you must be informed of the former times.

The night dates back to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a crew of Catholic revolutionaries took action against the Monarchy challenging the oppression of the Catholic church.

In accordance to the rule of King James 1, the Catholic Church came under fire. This occurred due to the fact that the monarch endorsed Protestants. Some Catholic men reciprocated by leveling the Houses of parliament.

The instrument to be used for the bombing were casks of gunpowder situated underneath the structures. They were to be sparked while the king and other officials were in parliament.

The attack was expected on 5th November in 1605. The conspirators hoped to execute the ruler in the melee plus other prominent officers in the parliament blamed for persecuting the Catholic church.

The planned attack aborted after law enforcement became aware of the plot before Guy Fawkes could light the gunpowder.

It is alleged that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot was due to differences among the people involved. A few were disturbed with the strategy considering the destruction it would have caused, and one of the conspirators warned the authority by sending an unacknowledged letter.

That night, those faithful to the Monarch jubilated the unsuccessful plot and his welfare by lighting bonfires and blasting fireworks. From then, it evolved into a frequent event that has come down generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a recognition of the botched effort by Catholic radical elements to do away with the monarch and other state representatives in 1605. The evening in addition remains a pointer of the perils faced by rulers.

You should keep in mind that Bonfire Night isn’t a formal public holiday. It is similar to a ritual remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the scheme.
