Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is occasionally known as Bonfire Night and marks the day of observance of the unearthing of a plot organized by Catholic schemers to bomb the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many participants start bonfires and light up fireworks.

For you to understand the reason why people commemorate Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to learn the the yesteryears.

The evening goes back to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a gathering of Catholic radicals went against the Monarch in protest against the oppression of Catholics.

In line with the reign of King James 1, the Catholic religion was embattled. The reason was given that the monarch favored Protestants. A few Catholic men revenged by blowing up the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the bombing were barrels of gunpowder set beneath the structures. They were to be detonated the instant the king and other office holders were within parliament.

The offensive was planned for 5th November in 1605. The plotters desired to assassinate the ruler in the melee including other prominent people in the structure responsible for persecuting the Catholic faithful.

The planned action failed to launch when the police found out about the conspiracy before Guy Fawkes could light the gunpowder.

It is claimed that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot was due to differences between the conspirators. Certain plotters grew disturbed with the strategy considering the destruction it would have effected, and one of the plotters warned the rulers by sending an unacknowledged letter.

The very same night, those faithful to the Monarch jubilated the aborted strategy and his safety by lighting bonfires and lighting fireworks. Since then, it grew to be a habitual affair that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a testimonial of the unsuccessful attempt by Catholic fanatics to slay the monarch and other monarchy officials in 1605. The night in addition functions as a pointer of the hazards faced by politicians.

You should remember that Bonfire Night isn’t a legal public holiday. It is closer to a ritual remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the plan.
