Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is at times known as Bonfire Night and honors the remembrance the revelation of a strategy put in motion by Catholic conspirators to obliterate the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Lots of people ignite bonfires and discharge fireworks.

For you to identify with why we commemorate Bonfire Night, then you must know the bygone days.

The day goes back to fifth year of the seventeenth century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a few Catholic extremists took action against the Monarchy dissenting the oppression of the Catholic church.

In accordance to the leadership of King James 1, the Catholic Church was besotted. This unfolded because the monarchy supported Protestants. A few Catholic men reacted by bombing the Houses of parliament.

The material to be used for the attack were casks of gunpowder placed under the assembly. They were to be sparked while the king and other noblemen were in the confines of parliament.

The assault was expected on 5th November in 1605. The plotters anticipated to murder the monarch in the melee including other leading statesmen inside the parliament guilty of oppressing Catholics.

The scheduled deed aborted due to the fact that state officials learned of the conspiracy before Guy Fawkes could detonate the gunpowder.

It’s opined that the collapse of the Gunpowder Plot was as a result of misunderstanding between the plotters. A section of the planners became disturbed with the plot considering the devastation it would have effected, and one of them forewarned the authority by sending an unacknowledged letter.

The very same night, those faithful to the King toasted to the aborted conspiracy and his welfare by lighting bonfires and exploding fireworks. From that day, it became a regular occasion that has been passed down the generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a tribute of the failed attempt by Catholic extremists to slay the king and other government officers in 1605. The evening also is an indication of the danger faced by statesmen.

You should not forget that Bonfire Night is not a legal public holiday. It is more of a tradition remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose faithful were responsible for the conspiracy.
