Guy Fawkes Night  is annually held  on November 5. It is at times known as Bonfire Night and observes the day of observance of the disclosure of a scheme coordinated by Catholic conspirators to pulverize the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. The majority of people start bonfires and trigger fireworks.

For you to understand the rationale why observe Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to be informed of the history.

The celebration originates fifth year of the seventeenth century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a few Catholic zealots took action against the Monarch challenging the oppression of the Catholic church.

As per the command of King James 1, Catholics was assailed. The reason was because the monarchy favored Protestants. Some Catholic men countered by leveling the Houses of parliament.

The device to be used for the devastation were containers of gunpowder put under the structures. They were to be ignited while the king and other office bearers were within parliament.

The bombing was set for 5th November in 1605. The schemers expected to execute the monarch in the melee and other popular figures within the house guilty of oppressing Catholics.

The expected assault did not go through as expected due to the fact that law officers found out about the conspiracy before Guy Fawkes could ignite the gunpowder.

It’s alleged that the collapse of the Gunpowder Plot was caused by falling out among the planners. Some were apprehensive with the plan as a result of the damage it would have effected, and one of the conspirators forewarned the monarchy by sending an unacknowledged letter.

That night, those devoted to the King jubilated the failed strategy and his safety by lighting bonfires and exploding fireworks. Going forward, it became a regular event that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is observed as a tribute of the botched effort by Catholic conspirators to murder the monarch and other sovereign representatives in 1605. The night also functions as a warning of the risks faced by rulers.

You should note that Bonfire Night is not a recognized public holiday. It is more of a ceremony remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose followers were responsible for the plot.
