For you to know story behind the reason we memorialise Bonfire Night, then you must know the history.

The night can be traced to fifth year of the seventeenth century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, some Catholic extremists decided to take action against the Crown dissenting the oppression of the Catholic church.

As per the authority of King James 1, the Catholic religion was assailed. The justification for this was because the monarch preferred Protestants. Some Catholic men reacted by bombing the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the bombing were drums of gunpowder placed beneath the house. They were to be lit while the king and other representatives were in the confines of parliament.

The offensive was planned for 5th November in 1605. The plotters anticipated to kill the ruler in the melee and other renowned figures inside the structure culpable of tormenting Catholics.

The planned action failed due to the fact that law enforcement became aware of the plot before Guy Fawkes could blow up the gunpowder.

It’s asserted that the collapse of the Gunpowder Plot was as a result of differences between the planners. Some grew disturbed with the strategy considering the destruction it would have brought, and one of the conspirators notified the state by sending an anonymous letter.

That evening, those dedicated to the Monarchy jubilated the unsuccessful scheme and his well-being by starting bonfires and lighting fireworks. From then, it evolved into a regular event that has come down generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a memory of the ineffective endeavor by Catholic extremists to do away with the king and other government officials in 1605. The evening in addition functions as a pointer of the perils faced by rulers.

You should note that Bonfire Night is not a formal public holiday. It’s nearer to a ritual remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the plot.
