Guy Fawkes Night  is held every year  on November 5. It is occasionally known as Bonfire Night and celebrates the day of observance of the unearthing of a conspiracy organized by Catholic connivers to bomb the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. The majority of people ignite bonfires and set off fireworks.

For you to grasp why we celebrate Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to be aware of the bygone days.

The day can be traced to 1605 to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a group of Catholic extremists took action against the Monarchy dissenting the oppression of Catholics.

Going by the rule of King James 1, Catholics was embattled. The justification for this was because the king supported Protestants. A few Catholic men revenged by blowing up the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the devastation were barrels of gunpowder placed beneath the structures. They were to be ignited when the king and other office holders were in the confines of parliament.

The assault was set for 5th November in 1605. The people behind the plot anticipated to execute the monarch in the action and other renowned officials within the building guilty of oppressing the Catholic faithful.

The expected deed was ineffective because state officials learned of the plan before Guy Fawkes could light the gunpowder.

It is opined that the failure of the Gunpowder Plot was due to disagreement among the people involved. A section of the planners were apprehensive with the strategy due to the devastation it would have caused, and one of the plotters warned the monarchy by sending an anonymous letter.

The same evening, those dedicated to the King jubilated the failed plan and his safety by starting bonfires and blasting fireworks. From that day, it became a customary function that has been passed down the generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a tribute of the failed endeavor by Catholic zealots to murder the monarch and other sovereign representatives in 1605. The night additionally acts as a warning of the risks faced by politicians.

You should keep in mind that Bonfire Night isn’t a legal public holiday. It is similar to a ceremony commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the plot.
