Guy Fawkes Night  is annually held  on November 5. It is occasionally designated as Bonfire Night and recognized the day of observance of the disclosure of a conspiracy put in motion by Catholic manipulators to bomb the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. The majority of people start bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to know the reason why people commemorate Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to learn the bygone days.

The celebration can be traced to fifth year of the seventeenth century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a few Catholic revolutionaries rose against the Crown in protest against the oppression of the Catholic church.

In keeping with the command of King James 1, Catholics was embattled. This unfolded on account of the fact that the king endorsed Protestants. Some Catholic men reciprocated by blowing up the Houses of parliament.

The device to be used for the deed were containers of gunpowder located beneath the structures. They were to be ignited the instant the king and other office holders were in parliament.

The attack was set for 5th November in 1605. The connivers desired to murder the ruler in the process including other famous officials within the parliament responsible for persecuting the Catholic faithful.

The planned action did not go through as expected due to the fact that law enforcement unearthed the conspiracy before Guy Fawkes could light the gunpowder.

It is alleged that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot was caused by misunderstanding between the plotters. A few grew uneasy with the approach considering the losses it would have caused, and one of the conspirators warned the authority by sending an unacknowledged note.

That night, those loyal to the Monarch jubilated the failed plan and his welfare by lighting bonfires and exploding fireworks. From then, it turned out to be a habitual function that has been passed down the generations.

Bonfire Night is commemorated as a remembrance of the failed endeavor by Catholic extremists to assassinate the monarch and other sovereign officers in 1605. The night also acts as a pointer of the perils faced by rulers.

You should note that Bonfire Night is not a recognized public holiday. It’s more of a practice commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose followers were responsible for the plot.
