Guy Fawkes Night  is held every year  on November 5. It is sometimes nicknamed Bonfire Night and honors the remembrance the exposing of a scheme contrived by Catholic manipulators to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many folks ignite bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to discern story behind the reason we celebrate Bonfire Night, then you should know the the yesteryears.

The day originates early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a group of Catholic zealots rose against the Monarch in protest against the oppression of Catholics.

In keeping with the authority of King James 1, the Catholic religion was embattled. The reason was due to the fact that the monarchy supported Protestants. A group of catholic men retaliated by detonating the Houses of parliament.

The contraption to be used for the deed were containers of gunpowder put underneath the building. They were to be exploded while the king and other noblemen were within parliament.

The attack was scheduled for 5th November in 1605. The people behind the plot hoped to murder the ruler in the action plus other popular figures within the parliament blamed for persecuting Catholics.

The scheduled assault was unsuccessful after law enforcement found out about the conspiracy before Guy Fawkes could blow up the gunpowder.

It’s alleged that the flopping of the Gunpowder Plot was due to differences among the schemers. A few were disturbed with the plot as a result of the damage it would have effected, and one of the plotters informed the monarchy by sending an unacknowledged note.

That evening, those loyal to the King jubilated the unsuccessful plan and his well-being by starting bonfires and blasting fireworks. Since then, it evolved into a frequent event that has entertained lots of generations.

Bonfire Night is celebrated as a tribute of the unsuccessful undertaking by Catholic radical elements to do away with the monarch and other monarchy agents in 1605. The night in addition is a pointer of the perils faced by statesmen.

You should keep in mind that Bonfire Night is not a formal public holiday. It is closer to a ritual remembered by protestants more than Catholics whose faithful were responsible for the scheme.
