Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is occasionally referred to as Bonfire Night and celebrates the anniversary the revelation of a conspiracy put together by Catholic machinators to explode the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many folks light bonfires and discharge fireworks.

For you to know the reason why people observe Bonfire Night, then you must know the history.

The day goes back to 1605 to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, certain Catholic radicals decided to take action against the King objecting the mistreatment of Catholics.

In accordance to the authority of King James 1, the Catholic religion was attacked. That was because the monarch preferred Protestants. Some Catholic men countered by detonating the Houses of parliament.

The material to be used for the deed were kegs of gunpowder set under the assembly. They were to be sparked the moment the king and other representatives were in the confines of parliament.

The attack was planned for 5th November in 1605. The conspirers hoped to slay the monarch in the melee plus other renowned figures inside the building behind the mistreatment of the Catholic faithful.

The scheduled attack was ineffective after state officials unearthed the scheme before Guy Fawkes could light the gunpowder.

It is claimed that the flopping of the Gunpowder Plot was due to squabbles between the conspirators. A few were uncomfortable with the approach because the damage it would have effected, and one of the conspirators notified the authority by sending an anonymous letter.

That evening, those dedicated to the Monarch toasted to the botched conspiracy and his safety by starting bonfires and blasting fireworks. From that time, it turned out to be a regular occasion that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a remembrance of the unsuccessful undertaking by Catholic radical elements to slay the monarch and other state representatives in 1605. The evening also acts as a pointer of the hazards faced by rulers.

You should not forget that Bonfire Night isn’t an official public holiday. It’s more of a practice honored by protestants more than Catholics whose faithful were responsible for the plan.
