Guy Fawkes Night  is annually held  on November 5. It is also nicknamed Bonfire Night and honors the remembrance the unearthing of a plot contrived by Catholic connivers to bomb the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many people light bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to discern story behind the reason we memorialise Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to learn the former times.

The evening can be traced to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a gathering of Catholic revolutionaries defied the Monarchy challenging the injustice against Catholics.

As per the rule of King James 1, the Catholic religion was embattled. This unfolded given that the king supported Protestants. Some Catholic men decided to retaliate by blowing up the Houses of parliament.

The contraption to be used for the attack were barrels of gunpowder put under the structures. They were to be sparked the moment the king and other noblemen were within parliament.

The assault was set for 5th November in 1605. The people behind the plot hoped to slay the king in the process including other famous people within the structure guilty of oppressing the Catholic church.

The anticipated deed did not go through as expected after law officers found out about the ploy before Guy Fawkes could blow up the gunpowder.

It’s asserted that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot was due to disagreement between the plotters. Certain plotters grew apprehensive with the plan because the damage it would have caused, and one of them forewarned the authority by sending an anonymous letter.

The very same night, those devoted to the King rejoiced the aborted plot and his welfare by lighting bonfires and lighting fireworks. From that day, it grew to be a regular affair that has entertained lots of generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a remembrance of the unsuccessful attempt by Catholic zealots to kill the king and other state agents in 1605. The night also is a reminder of the risks faced by politicians.

You should remember that Bonfire Night is not an authorized public holiday. It is more like a ceremony commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the plot.
