Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is at times designated as Bonfire Night and observes the day of observance of the unearthing of a conspiracy organized by Catholic connivers to obliterate the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Lots of people ignite bonfires and set off fireworks.

For you to understand story behind the reason we memorialise Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to know the past.

The evening dates back to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a crew of Catholic fanatics went against the King dissenting the injustice against Catholics.

In accordance to the rule of King James 1, the Catholic religion was embattled. The justification for this was given that the king was in favor of Protestants. A group of catholic men reciprocated by bombing the Houses of parliament.

The contraption to be used for the deed were containers of gunpowder placed under the structures. They were to be sparked the instant the king and other noblemen were inside parliament.

The attack was set for 5th November in 1605. The conspirers anticipated to execute the monarch in the action in addition to other prominent statesmen inside the building blamed for persecuting the Catholic faithful.

The expected action failed after state officials became aware of the ploy before Guy Fawkes could ignite the gunpowder.

It is rumored that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot arose from falling out among the schemers. A few became uncomfortable with the plot because the destruction it would have brought, and one of the plotters cautioned the monarchy by sending an anonymous letter.

The same night, those faithful to the Monarchy rejoiced the aborted plan and his well-being by lighting bonfires and blasting fireworks. From that time, it grew to be a regular function that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is commemorated as a tribute of the failed attempt by Catholic zealots to murder the king and other government representatives in 1605. The evening also remains a reminder of the hazards faced by leaders.

You should remember that Bonfire Night is not a recognized public holiday. It is similar to a ritual commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose faithful were responsible for the plot.
