Guy Fawkes Night  is commemorated each year  on November 5. It is sometimes labelled as Bonfire Night and honors the day of observance of the exposing of a conspiracy put together by Catholic manipulators to obliterate the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many participants ignite bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to identify with story behind the reason we observe Bonfire Night, then you must be informed of the former times.

The celebration can be traced to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, certain Catholic revolutionaries defied the Crown challenging the oppression of Catholics.

In line with the jurisdiction of King James 1, Catholics came under attack. The justification for this was given that the monarchy was in favor of Protestants. A few Catholic men reciprocated by bombing the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the assault were casks of gunpowder put underneath the assembly. They were to be exploded the moment the king and other office holders were inside parliament.

The offensive was set for 5th November in 1605. The connivers intended to execute the ruler in the process including other popular officers in the house responsible for persecuting Catholics.

The anticipated assault failed to launch because law officers became aware of the scheme before Guy Fawkes could detonate the gunpowder.

It is asserted that the collapse of the Gunpowder Plot arose from differences among the plotters. Some became uneasy with the approach as a result of the losses it would have wrought, and one of the plotters warned the state by sending an unacknowledged letter.

That evening, those dedicated to the King toasted to the unsuccessful plot and his welfare by starting bonfires and blasting fireworks. From that time, it turned out to be a regular event that has entertained lots of generations.

Bonfire Night is commemorated as a memory of the botched undertaking by Catholic conspirators to do away with the monarch and other sovereign representatives in 1605. The night in addition serves as a warning of the danger faced by politicians.

You should not forget that Bonfire Night isn’t an authorized public holiday. It’s nearer to a practice celebrated by protestants more than Catholics whose followers were responsible for the scheme.
