Guy Fawkes Night  is annually held  on November 5. It is sometimes designated as Bonfire Night and recognized the anniversary the revelation of a scheme organized by Catholic conspirators to bomb the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many people light bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to discern story behind the reason we celebrate Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to learn the bygone days.

The evening dates back to 1605 to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, certain Catholic radicals went against the Crown challenging the oppression of Catholics.

In line with the rule of King James 1, the Catholic Church was attacked. This occurred given that the monarch supported Protestants. Some Catholic men decided to retaliate by bombing the Houses of parliament.

The instrument to be used for the assault were kegs of gunpowder set beneath the house. They were to be detonated when the king and other office holders were in the confines of parliament.

The assault was planned for 5th November in 1605. The machinators expected to slay the monarch in the act and other leading figures in the building culpable of tormenting the Catholic faithful.

The anticipated devastation did not go through as expected after law officers discovered the scheme before Guy Fawkes could blast off the gunpowder.

It is rumored that the non-success of the Gunpowder Plot was due to differences between the schemers. Some became uneasy with the method due to the losses it would have wrought, and one of the conspirators informed the state by sending an anonymous note.

That night, those loyal to the Monarchy rejoiced the aborted strategy and his well-being by starting bonfires and exploding fireworks. Since then, it evolved into a customary affair that has come down generations.

Bonfire Night is observed as a tribute of the botched undertaking by Catholic zealots to kill the monarch and other sovereign agents in 1605. The evening also remains a reminder of the perils faced by statesmen.

You should not forget that Bonfire Night is not an official public holiday. It is nearer to a ceremony honored by protestants more than Catholics whose faithful were responsible for the scheme.
