Guy Fawkes Night  takes place yearly  on November 5. It is sometimes nicknamed Bonfire Night and observes the anniversary the revelation of a scheme coordinated by Catholic conspirators to obliterate the Houses of Parliament in London in 1605. Many people light bonfires and touch off fireworks.

For you to discern the rationale why honor Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to learn the history.

The evening dates back to fifth year of the seventeenth century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, a group of Catholic fanatics decided to take action against the Crown challenging the mistreatment of Catholics.

Going by the rule of King James 1, Catholics came under attack. The reason was on account of the fact that the monarchy preferred Protestants. A few Catholic men reacted by blowing up the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the attack were casks of gunpowder situated underneath the assembly. They were to be exploded the moment the king and other noblemen were within parliament.

The offensive was set for 5th November in 1605. The conspirators desired to kill the monarch in the melee plus other noted statesmen inside the house behind the mistreatment of the Catholic faithful.

The expected deed was botched since state officials became aware of the ploy before Guy Fawkes could detonate the gunpowder.

It’s rumored that the flopping of the Gunpowder Plot was due to differences among the schemers. Certain plotters grew apprehensive with the strategy because the losses it would have brought, and one of the conspirators cautioned the rulers by sending an anonymous letter.

That night, those dedicated to the Monarch rejoiced the botched plot and his well-being by lighting bonfires and lighting fireworks. From that time, it became a habitual affair that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is observed as a memory of the abortive effort by Catholic fanatics to kill the monarch and other sovereign officers in 1605. The night also is a warning of the danger faced by rulers.

You should note that Bonfire Night is not a legal public holiday. It’s more of a ritual commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the plan.
