For you to understand the reason why people honor Bonfire Night, then you are supposed to be aware of the the yesteryears.

The evening can be traced to early 17th Century to the Gunpowder Plot. That year, certain Catholic fanatics defied the King objecting the oppression of the Catholic church.

In line with the authority of King James 1, Catholics was assailed. The justification for this was due to the fact that the king favored Protestants. Some Catholic men revenged by detonating the Houses of parliament.

The weapon to be used for the deed were containers of gunpowder located underneath the house. They were to be detonated once the king and other representatives were within parliament.

The bombing was planned for 5th November in 1605. The conspirers expected to murder the monarch in the act and other renowned officers in the structure behind the mistreatment of Catholics.

The expected assault was unsuccessful due to the fact that law officers became aware of the plan before Guy Fawkes could blow up the gunpowder.

It is opined that the failure of the Gunpowder Plot was caused by falling out between the planners. Certain plotters were disturbed with the plan as a result of the losses it would have caused, and one of the conspirators notified the state by sending an anonymous note.

That night, those dedicated to the Monarch toasted to the failed conspiracy and his safety by starting bonfires and setting off fireworks. From that time, it became a customary function that has seen many generations.

Bonfire Night is honored as a tribute of the ineffective undertaking by Catholic fanatics to assassinate the monarch and other monarchy agents in 1605. The night also is a warning of the hazards faced by leaders.

You should remember that Bonfire Night is not a formal public holiday. It’s more like a ritual commemorated by protestants more than Catholics whose adherents were responsible for the scheme.
